Applying an Intersectional Lens to Labour Relations
A professional development program from Elevate Inclusion Strategies

Every day, Labour Relations Officers, union representatives, and HR professionals navigate conversations where identity, power, and context all shape the outcome: investigations, discipline, negotiation, grievances. Policy alone doesn't prepare a team for that work. Applying an Intersectional Lens to Labour Relations does.

Built on our signature Coaching Conversations approach, this program gives your team the practical skill to recognize how overlapping identities and systemic patterns show up in day-to-day labour relations work, and the confidence to act on what they see.

The everyday reality

Labour relations work is human work. Every case, every conversation, every decision carries context that policy alone can't capture: who's involved, what power dynamics are at play, and what history sits underneath the immediate issue. Teams who aren't equipped to see that fuller picture end up managing the same conflicts over and over, often after they've already escalated.

What this program builds

This isn't a one-time training. It's a shift in how your team works, every day.

  • Conflict named before it escalates. Teams who can spot what's really happening early, before it becomes a grievance.

  • Decisions that hold up. Investigations, discipline, and documentation grounded in context, not just policy.

  • A shared vocabulary. A common language for equity and power, used across the table, not just within one side of it.

  • Fairness that feels safe. A trauma-informed approach that keeps psychological safety at the centre of every conversation.

Our approach: Coaching Conversations

Applying an Intersectional Lens to Labour Relations is delivered through Coaching Conversations, our signature coaching-based approach to professional development. Rather than one-off theory, participants build skill through practical, guided application to their own cases and everyday practice, so the learning transfers straight to their caseload.

The full session-by-session program design is shared during a discovery call, tailored to your organization's team and priorities.

Who it's for

This program is built for:

  • Labour Relations Officers and servicing staff

  • Union representatives and member services staff

  • HR and labour relations professionals

  • Departments building collective equity capacity
